The products and landscapes of Amerino Tipico will be among the protagonists of the festival, featuring tastings and visits to the villages
The trekking on April 1st will take place in Giove (TR), along the Cammino della Pietra Bianca, featuring the knowledge and tasting of wines from Cantina Sandonna
The first edition of the outdoor festival “Umbria Primavera in Cammino” will kick off on Saturday, April 1st, 2023, exploring “Le Terre dei Borghi Verdi” and the 21 municipalities (in the province of Terni) that are part of it. Guided excursions will be led by 5 of the most prominent hiking influencers in Italy.
The products and landscapes of “Amerino Tipico” will be among the highlights of the event, with visits to some of the 11 villages of the Amerino Tipico project. In fact, starting from the opening event of the festival on Saturday, April 1st, the scheduled excursion includes a visit to Giove (TR), where during the stop in the historic center, it will be possible to learn about and taste the wines from Cantina Sandonna.
The first weekend of the festival will indeed be dedicated to the lower Amerino area with a trek starting at 9:00 am from the village of Attigliano, which will follow the Cammino della Pietra Bianca, along a loop route with a stop for a visit to the village of Giove, accompanied by the trekker and influencer Simona Scacheri of Fringe in Travel.
It will be right in the square of Giove that, around 1:00 pm, the first tasting event of Amerino Tipico products will take place. Hosting the event will be the wines from Cantina Sandonna , which have their vineyards in Giove, in the plateau located in the Selve area, which has given its name to the wines of the Paciocconi family winery.
The wine production from Ciliegiolo and Grechetto grapes, cultivated on almost 9 hectares of land – cultivated while respecting the soil, by avoiding the use of herbicides and by plowing the vines as it was done in the past – makes this wine unique and closely tied to the land of Amerino. The cultivated grape varieties include Ciliegiolo, Merlot, and Montepulciano for red wine; Chardonnay, Malvasia, Grechetto, and Trebbiano Spoletino for white wine, and recently Tostolello, a grape variety typical of Amerino.
To complete the tasting, there will be the extra virgin olive oil from Frantoio Suatoni in Amelia, the Fava Cottora from the Fava cottora dell’Amerino producers association, a Slow Food presidium, wines from Cantine Zanchi in Amelia, and typical products from Azienda Tamburini in Montecastrilli.
The synergy between the Amerino Tipico project and the “Umbria Primavera in Cammino” festival is born to combine the tourist experience with the culinary one, which will continue in the following two weekends of the event. It is scheduled for Saturday, April 15th, with a tasting upon arrival in the Collicello fraction of Amelia and during the walk scheduled for Monday, April 24th in Montecastrilli.
The combination between the Amerino Tipico project and the outdoor festival will conclude on Tuesday, April 25th, with a storytelling meeting about the Amerino Tipico project titled “Towards the food district,” which will take place at the Agricollina Fair in Montecastrilli.
