A photography challenge to narrate through images the landscape, cultural heritage, and culinary products of southern Umbria.
Amelia, May 11, 2023 – Starting today, Thursday, May 11, the #PaesaggioAmerinoTipico photography contest kicks off, aimed at professional photographers and amateurs who wish to capture evocative views of the #PaesaggioAmerinoTipico in southern Umbria with their shots.
The photography contest, in its first edition, is indeed one of the initiatives undertaken by the 11 municipalities of the province of Terni, which are part of the #AmerinoTipico project: Amelia, Alviano, Attigliano, Avigliano Umbro, Baschi, Giove, Guardea, Lugnano in Teverina, Montecastrilli, Montecchio, and Penna in Teverina. These municipalities are united in promoting the Amerino landscape, the invaluable cultural heritage that characterizes these villages, and the excellent culinary products of the area.
The #PaesaggioAmerinoTipico photography contest will focus on three themes:
1) Landscapes of Olive Oil and Wine in Amerino: Olive oil and wine are two characteristic products of Umbria and key elements of the Amerino territory. This award aims to promote images that can narrate the typical value of vineyards and olive groves for Amerino, the history, meanings, and experiences generated by human labor that mark the quality of this landscape and the value of the land and its products.
2) Landscapes of Typical Products of Amerino: Agriculture shapes the Amerino landscape, perhaps without aesthetic intentionality, but it influences living through perception, defining its space and time. This award aims to offer recognition for those images capable of capturing the qualities that Amerino’s products and crops offer, images that also impact the daily reality that photography can capture in its most poetic and typical aspects.
3) Urban Landscapes and Food of Amerino: Amerino tells its stories and emotions of its land through products that enter urban spaces and communication processes established here. With this award, we aim to describe and highlight, through images, the relationship between food items and the places that arise from this relationship, typical dishes, and the life of the community that also arises from the dialectic between tradition and innovation. The award seeks to be recognized for images capable of evoking the experiences and stories of Amerino that arise in spatial relationships with food, in life during festive events and daily community life, in the transformations of products into recipes capable of seducing and capturing the meanings of this land.

The photography contest is one of the initiatives implemented within the framework of the “Amerino Tipico” project (“Amerino©. Integrated actions for the territorial strategy of Amerino landscape food”), made possible thanks to funding from the PSR for Umbria 2014 – 2022 Measure 16.7.1. This project aims to define a territorial development strategy aimed at enhancing food as a key element for territorial innovation, fostering cooperation between public and private entities in the area as a driving force for the revitalization of the Amerino Tipico brand.
