The Products
The Amerina countryside which extends in the south-west part of the Umbria region is a pleasant and fascinating place, a small natural universe dotted with oil mills, cellars, farms and small companies that produce oil, wine, legumes, cereals, cheese, meat, truffles and then fruit, beer and sweets.
All this in a typical Amerino territory which, with its traditions, its climate and its orography, stands out from the rest of the region and promotes an identifying food.
Its soul is very ancient, like its centuries-old Rajo olive trees, “young ancestors”, which could tell a lot about the ancient history of this area, or like the Fava Cotòra, an ecotype of incredibly resistant broad bean cultivated in ancient times in this area, now became a Slow Food Presidium.
Also typical and ancient are Grechetto or Ciliegiolo, native vines that bring to the wine and its aromas the same frankness and simplicity of the small community that produces them here.
Amerino also has a “sweet” soul, and Bianchella figs are a “very good” example of this. It is a typical variety, of which Dr. Antonio Girotti, in the early 1900s, understood its essence, so much so that he imagined a sweet, Girotti Figs, still a local brand today.
Here, in an ideal route between roads already traced and others to be invented, between trekking, visits to the company and stops in the towns that mark the territory, the visitor can activate all the senses and fill his bag not only with unique and healthy foods, but also with breathtaking landscapes, ancient stories and genuine relationships.
