On Monday, April 24th, and Tuesday, April 25th, the lands and products of Amerino Tipico will once again be the protagonists of the “Umbria Primavera in Cammino” festival.
The new stage of the festival will involve the villages of Avigliano Umbro (TR) and Montecastrilli (TR), two municipalities bordering the Arnolfe Lands, with guided walking excursions led by travel bloggers Rossella and Stefano from Fatti di Viaggi and by the Instagrammer and art historian Benedetta Artefacile.
On Monday, April 24th, the walk will take place along the Sensi Ridesti trail, amidst hills and countryside near the fossil forest of Dunarobba. The itinerary, starting at 9:30 am from the public gardens of Avigliano Umbro, will cover a route of approximately 12 km, with a stop for a tasting of local traditional products scheduled at the Fratelli Tamburini Sandro e Claudio company in Montecastrilli. This company is a partner of the Amerino Tipico project and is dedicated to farming, situated in a pristine area of 150 hectares. It boasts a production of top-quality cold cuts, particularly the Diavoletti, spicy dried pork fillets. Accompanying the Tamburini brothers’ products will be wines from the Sandonna Winery in Giove and those from the Zanchi wineries in Amelia, the Cooked Fava Beans from the Fava Cottora Producers Association of Amerino – a Slow Food Presidium, and the wonderful extra virgin olive oil from the Suatoni Mill.
On Tuesday, April 25th, the spotlight will be on the municipality of Montecastrilli, where, during the Agricollina 2023 agricultural fair, the Agricollina trekking event will take place. This event involves an approximately 8 km loop trail to discover the rural territory of Montecastrilli. Following the trekking activity, at 12:00 pm, there will be a meeting on the theme “Evolution of rural tourism: agritourism, wine tourism, food district, environmental heritage, and tourist routes.” In collaboration with experts from the Agri-Food Technological Park of Umbria, Amerino© Tipico, and Le Terre dei Borghi Verdi, the meeting will highlight the interaction between food and the environment in promoting rural tourism and the importance of preserving the biodiversity of the territory as a means of tourist attraction.
At the end of the meeting, with the aim of enhancing the relationship between the environment and food as drivers of tourism enhancement, there will be a tasting of traditional Umbrian food products by Amerino Tipico. This will be followed by a cooking workshop at 3:00 pm, in collaboration with Slow Food Umbria, focusing on traditional and popular cuisine. The workshop will have a special focus on the Cooked Fava Beans of Amerino, a Slow Food Presidium, by the Fava Cottora Association of Amerino. This association is dedicated to the protection of this typical legume, harvested and processed by hand. It owes its name to its characteristic of cooking quickly and is cultivated on an area of eight hectares, particularly in the Collicello fraction of Amelia.
