The project stood out as a territorial promotion strategy for highlighting the gastronomic and landscape excellences of Amerino.
Yesterday, Monday, May 22, 2023, the award ceremony for the Columbus International Award 2023 took place in Amelia (TR), at the Civic Archaeological Museum and Art Gallery ‘Edilberto Rosa.’ This event marked the third edition of the award dedicated to individuals and organizations who have distinguished themselves, each in their own field, for promoting and safeguarding Italian culture and identity.
Among the awardees for the ‘Excellence’ section, dedicated to Italian companies and organizations that have promoted excellence in Italy and around the world, was #AmerinoTipico, the project promoted by the 11 municipalities of the province of Terni: led by Amelia, with Alviano, Attigliano, Avigliano Umbro, Baschi, Giove, Guardea, Lugnano in Teverina, Montecastrilli, Montecchio, and Penna in Teverina
Amerino Tipico – ‘Amerino©: Integrated Actions for the Territorial Food Strategy of the Amerino Landscape’ is the new territorial development and food enhancement project, which sees food as a key element for territorial innovation. It aims for cooperation between public and private entities in the territory, building the ‘Amerino©’ brand as a driving force of the territory itself. The recognition, accepted by Marco Filippucci, project coordinator, was awarded for “highlighting the excellence of Amerino, for implementing a series of integrated actions for the territorial food strategy of the Amerino landscape, promoted by no less than 11 administrations.

For the “Amazing” section, dedicated to individuals who have contributed to the dissemination and/or protection of Italian culture worldwide, the awardees were: Pasquale Buonfiglio – President of Social Future Project engaged in significant social projects in Italy and abroado; Alexia Melocchi – Film producer and president of DIVE – Donne Italiane che Vivono all’Estero in Los Angeles, author, and podcast show host; Cristiana Pegoraro – International pianist, President of Narnia Arts Academy, and Artistic Director of Narnia Festival; David Petrarca – Director, television producer, and artistic director, also known to the public for “Game of Thrones”.
Furthermore, three other awardees were honored alongside #AmerinoTipico in the new section introduced this year, from an idea by Massimiliano Ferrara, the creator and founder of the award. This section is called “Excellence” and is dedicated to Italian companies that have spread excellence in Italy and around the world Best Color – the all-Italian Makeup brand that has made excellence its distinctive mark.; Otofarma – A leading company in the construction and realization of custom hearing aids, expressing Italian excellence and pioneers and researchers in telemedicine and 958 Santero – A dynamic and innovative Italian sparkling wine company, born in Piedmont in 1865.
At the end of the award ceremony, a tasting was held at the Cloister of the Municipal Art Gallery featuring products from the partners of the #AmerinoTipico project. The tasting showcased the wines from Cantina Sandonna di Giove (TR) and Cantina Zanchi di Amelia (TR), the extra virgin olive oil Monovarietale di Rajo from Frantoio Suatoni di Amelia, the Fava cottòra dell’Amerino – a Slow Food Presidium of the Consorzio della Fava Cottora, and the pork products from Società Agricola F.lli Tamburini di Montecastrilli (TR).
Columbus International Award 2023 is an event organized by MaMa communication, in collaboration with the Municipality of Amelia, United International Media Partners, Strada dei Vini Etrusco Romana, and Condotta Slow Food Terre dell’Umbria Meridionale, with the patronage of the Umbria Region, the Province of Terni, and AmeliaMusei.
