With the mini-festival “Esercizi in un Boccone,” taking place on Saturday, October 29th, and Sunday, October 30th, the 2022 edition of Verdecoprente Terr.A. opens to the public, under the artistic direction of Roberto Giannini and Rossella Viti from the Ippocampo Association.
Four scenic creations revolving around the theme of food conclude and reflect a week of meetings and exchanges among the artists selected by Verdecoprente Territori per Artisti, the companies involved in the Amerino Tipico project, and the local communities. A program where Theater and Territory nourish each other, giving rise to an original landscape marked by the production of quality, amidst crops and cultures.
Roberto Giannini and Rossella Viti express: “We are delighted with this synergy and increasingly convinced that the work of artists in residence, and their presentation in the form of performances, constitutes an innovative artistic proposal and an original cultural content, especially when shared and enhanced in contexts and with partners that look at the territory and landscape from different perspectives.”
Throughout the journey on Saturday, October 29th, and Sunday, October 30th, we will be accompanied by the products (oil, wine, and other specialties) of the Amerino Tipico companies, a project of “Integrated Actions for the Territorial Strategy of Food and Landscape in Amerino,” promoted, thanks to the PSR 2014-2020 Regione Umbria, by the municipal administrations of Amelia, as the lead, and Alviano, Attigliano, Giove, Penna and Lugnano in Teverina, Guardea, Montecchio, Baschi, Avigliano Umbro, Montecastrilli, associations and producers in the agri-food sector, and other companies active precisely among crops and cultures, such as the Slow Food Presidium of Amerino, the Ippocampo Association, and Città Slow International, which recently awarded an international prize to the Amerino project.
This is the program of “Esercizi in un Boccone”
On Saturday, October 29th, everything takes place at the Convent and Planetarium of Ss. Annunziata in Amelia (TR). It starts at 5:00 PM with “MONDO PANE,” a theatrical narration in music by Bradamante Teatro, featuring a story by A. Pascale from “La foglia di fico,” Einaudi. Born from a research project on wheat cultivation and the profound meaning of bread in our culture, the performance is constructed with testimonies from bakers throughout Italy. Written and performed by Francesca Camilla D’Amico, actress and narrative hiking guide, and Sebastian Giovannucci, musician.
The interlude with a snack of bread and oil leads at around 6:00 PM to the presentation of VERDECOPRENTE BOOK, a landscape book that opens up to 10 years of artistic explorations in the Umbro-Amerino territory. To be explored with the authors Roberto Giannini, Rossella Viti, and together with Stefano Romagnoli, the “Professional Spectator.”
At 7:00 PM, we enter the Planetarium with CATASTERISMI – Stellar Metamorphoses, which takes us through the stories told by the constellations, in a parade of characters we encounter around a digital bonfire, among computers, projectors, and smartphones, and in the night sky that welcomes them. A performance by and with Alberto Colombo, actor and astrophysicist, and Greta Milani, actress performer. This will be followed by a walk in the small but precious Museum of Science guided by Friar Andrea Frigo. Then at 8:30 PM, we gather for dinner prepared with the pasta of the Friars of the SS. Annunziata (with reservation and a contribution of 10 euros), and the producers of Amerino Tipico.
On Sunday, October 30th, we enter the Kitchen of Casa Ottaviani, in Collicello (Amelia), with 18 spectators for each performance, at 10:15 AM and 11:30 AM, to participate in MUOIO COME UN PAESE, a performance structured around a text by contemporary poet Dimitriadis and the figure of W. Benjamin’s Angelus Novus. In residence at Verdecoprente, artist Gemma H. Carbone explores the relationship between humans and the territory they inhabit, to draw an invisible architecture made of memories, actions, glances, artifacts, paths, stories, and traditions. In connection with architect Vasilis Mavrianos. Production: Naprawski, with Konstnärsnämnden and Verdecoprente. Here we bid farewell with Slow Food.
At 5:00 PM, we are in Amelia, at the Zanchi winery, where TERRAMADRE takes place, a physical, rather than symbolic, journey of exploration and discovery aimed at redefining our relationship with the earth. A “documentary journey” that the two playwright performers, Laura Nardinocchi and Niccolò Matcovich, compose by walking in different places in Italy and asking many questions to the travelers they meet, intertwining their own and others’ experiences until they merge them and make them a shared and universal testimony. Production by Florian Metateatro, with the contribution of Verdecoprente. The event concludes with a final toast.
