URBAN TREKKING WITH FREE TASTING IN AMELIA
On Tuesday, Oct. 31, on the occasion of the XXma National Urban Trekking Day, with a meeting at 9:30 a.m. at Porta Romana in Amelia and departure at 10 a.m., a new experience that combines the outdoors and good food: the Amelia Urban Trekking with tasting at Conte Nitto.
A walk through the walls of Amelia with tasting to discover Amerino Tipico
The free event is the second of four in the Pathways to the Discovery of Typical Amerino Taste project and combines a 3-kilometer walk-with walking time of about 2 1/2 hours-in and outside the walls of this ancient Umbrian town.
In collaboration with Sistema Museo guides: we will visit the Roman cistern under today’s Palazzo Sandri; we will then go out to the east side of the city from where we can admire the course of the Rio Grande and the Para Dam; returning from Porta Posterola we will visit the Oratory of San Girolamo and the Roman Cistern in Piazza Matteotti, an excellent example of water collection, conservation and reuse in Roman times; we will go down Via Farrattini where, under the palace of the same name, there were ancient Roman baths.
The trek will end with a tasting of typical local products at the Locanda del Conte Nitto, another site of archaeological interest due to the presence of the paving stone of the ancient Via Amerina and a very ancient hypogeum environment now used as a wine cellar.
